In 1990 we entered the Minerals & Metals Industry as Diamond Dealer through our sister company Masingita Diamonds. We achieved our milestone by becoming Diamond Manufacturers by 1995 and De Beers Sight Holders by 1999. We are currently in the list of Purchasers of Choice with De Beers company and we aim to maintain this status through our subsidiary Fabrikant Salant Masingita. Masingita Diamonds, our Rough and Jewellery company, is a recipient of the De Beers Shining Light Award for 2001.

Masingita extended its product range and services to Mining and Mining Contracting. The current position is in line with our strategy of background intergration in to mining.

Masingita Mining was launched in February 2001 by Both MacDonald and Peter Temane with the explicit mandate to commence contract-mining operations within South Africa. The Company was awarded the iron ore mining contract by Kumba Resources at Vanderbijl near Thabazimbi.

On the basis of Masingita’s success at the Vanderbijl Pit, Masingita was further awarded two contracts, one at Kwaggashoek Pit and the other at Sishen in October 2001 and November 2002 respectively.

The company is currently producing a yearly turnover of more than R45,000,000 and employs more than 150 people on a full time basis.

Increasingly, Masingita Mining Contracting is becoming familiar with the mining industry, and that has help in changing strategies that will dramatically improve its performance. In less than two years in the Mining Industry, Masingita Mining has managed to achieve capitalisation of more than R70 Million Rands.
